Master Musical Leadership

Musical Leadership is a two-year master's program at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam focusing on community music: music projects aimed at promoting social connection and participation. During this master's program, I conducted research on how the use of democratic principles in community arts can contribute to an inclusive society. To experiment with this in practice, I collaborated with ZID Theater from Amsterdam West on a project where newcomers and conservatory students co-created music for an interdisciplinary performance titled "Een stad vele gezichten" (October 2021), guided by democratic principles. With the insights gained, I developed the Democracy Box, a tool designed to assist culturally diverse ensembles in facilitating a creative collaborative process using democratic principles.
